
While gamers around the world are waiting for the launch of the new AMD Ryzen processors, testers set the first world records with the Ryzen 9 3950X. The next CPU with its 16 cores beats Intel’s best values in the field of consumer chips.
The fact that the new AMD Ryzen 9 3950X is suitable for overclocking (overclocking) shows once again a recently emerged benchmark record in the well-known Cinebench R15. The Twitter user ” uzzi38 ” (via PCGH ) was a picture leaked, showing the 16-core processor with an overclocking to 5.4 GHz. At 1,776 volts, AMD’s new Matisse chip in the benchmark reaches 5501 points. So far, the record was held in comparison with consumer CPUs of Intel’s Core i9-9980XE with 5320 points.
It can be assumed that the tests used liquid nitrogen for cooling and the authenticity of the values after the final release of theRyzen 9 3950X also to confirm again. However, mid-June similar highs in the benchmark Geekbench 4 appeared, where the new flagship processor from AMD beat the Intel competition with 61,072 points in the multi-core and 5868 points in the single-core.
AMD vs. Intel: More processor performance at half price
The new records are particularly interesting for the reason that with the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X, a 749-dollar processor can hold its own against the nearly 2,000-dollar Intel Core i9-9980XE. Similarly, the duel is called 16 cores and 32 threads in AMD against 18 cores and 36 threads in the Intel Extreme Edition and 105 watts versus 165 watts TDP. The clock rates are again between 3.5 and 4.7 GHz for the Ryzen 3950X, while the Core i9-9980XE operates at a range of 3.0 to 4.4 GHz. These are the factory-set clock rates, not the overclocking potential.
AMD will be launching this week with its third generation Ryzen processors, including Zen 2 architecture, 7nm manufacturing, and PCI Express 4.0 support. For now, however, the Ryzen 9 3900X should spearhead the release of the record breaker 3950X scheduled for September 2019. Although the benchmarks that have appeared in advance are more than positive, they should, of course, be viewed with some caution regarding pre-production samples.
